USA Pan is a consumer line of commercial grade bakeware that has all the same quality and manufacturing processes that their commercial line uses. USA Pans' bakware are made by the largest manufacturer of commercial bakeware in the world, Bundy Baking Solutions, so quality is a reputation they pride themselves on.
I received three pans for use in my everyday cooking that really elevates my baking and general cooking to professional results. The Square Cake Pan is an 8 by 8 by 2 1/4 inch pan for a smaller cake pan, cooking casseroles and even brownies while the half sheet pan is 18 by 13 by one inch.
The Meat Loaf Pan has an insert that fits the 10 by 5 by 3 inch loaf pan with holes in the bottom of the insert to allow juices to easily drip down. The insert sits about a half inch above the bottom of the loaf pan to allow the juices to easily drip down to give you a tender and juicy meatloaf without all the extra grease.
All three pans are heavy gauge aluminized steel made from 65 percent recycled steel but with a unique corrugated surface on all sides and bottom to aid in heat distribution. You don't have to worry about things sticking with this fluted design as the pans are coated on all surfaces after fabricating with a silicone coating.
The coating feels like silicone and definitely acts like it, even oils and sprays do not stick to it, they bead and cooked on or burnt on foods simply slide off. I have tried burning things on the pans and even the burnt on grease in the bottom of the meatloaf pan does not stick at all.
The USA Pans are made from aluminized steel, a technique that coats steel with aluminum to bring the benefits of both metals together. Many professional grade bakeware uses this process and the USA Pan's parent company also sells professional quality bakeware for bakery and restaurant use with this same process.
All three pans have a heavier gauge metal than the usual cookie sheets and pans you find at stores like Wal-Mart that just feel more durable and have the heft of a professional piece of cookware. The corrugated surfaces also allow for even cooking as less surface area of the food is touching the pan which gives a more even cooking.
The rims are a rolled edge with the heavy gauge of the sheet metal rolling over a bent wire to create an edge that is not sharp and helps the durability of the pans. The corrugated surface of the sheet metal also helps with rigidity and the pans heavier gauge also makes it sturdier for a durable long lasting bakeware.
I have found that pans for sale at Wal-Mart just do not stack up to the USA Pan offerings and the only pans I could find did not have the unique silicone coating that USA Pans call AMERICOAT Plus. The heavy duty feel of the pans means you will be less apt to burn food and it gives an even cooking to your cakes, baked goods and even meats.
I have been cooking quite a variety of foods including sheet cakes, cookies, meatloaf, brownies, potatoes, shrimp and quiche. The large half sheet pan makes an excellent pan for cookies and biscuits but also as a pan for cooking other things to contain the drippings like pies and quiche.
The coating used on the pans mean an easier and quicker cleanup but they are not dishwasher safe, the company recommends hand washing and drying. It is also recommended you use silicone, nylon or wooden utensils as metal ones will scratch the silicone surface.
Personally I am only using silicone coated utensils on my USA Pans to prevent even accidental scratching with other utensils as I really want these pans to last as long as they can. I thoroughly enjoy using the pans and they have easily become the standard I reach for when cooking, above and beyond other glass and metal bakeware solutions.
I highly recommend the USA Pans that can be found at USAPans.com and several other online retailers as well as stores like Creative Kitchen, Bed Bath & Beyond and more. I found the two pieces at a local Creative Kitchen with the square cake pan selling for $19 and the half sheet pan selling for $25.
The meat loaf pan I did not find locally but you can find it for about $27 at Amazon, these are not bad prices at all for the quality you are getting. Compared to the same size pans you can purchase at Wal-Mart but with the heavier gauge plus the silicone non stick coating the USA Pans make a much better quality product.
I highly recommend the USA Pan line of home bakeware for a commercial quality series of pans that make any home cook that much better.
