Ford Mustang 2012

2012 Ford MustangThe first special edition Mustang Boss 302 was unveiled back in 1969. It was the only time the 302 was approved for production and would be the only time until 42 years later. Today, the Boss man returns in the base form of a 2011 Mustang GT. Ford is not only bringing out a Boss, but they are also revealing a special edition Boss 302 Laguna Seca model, named for the track where Parnelli Jones won the 1970 Trans-Am season opener in a Boss 302.
The new Mustang Boss 302 is powered by a 5 liter V8 engine that delivers 440 HP and 380 lb.-ft. of torque, and is mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission. The cars gets revised camshafts using a more aggressive grind, a more aggressive control calibration, a Boss-specific intake system, and a retuned induction sound tube.
On the exterior, the Boss 302 will be distinguished by either a black or white roof panel and a unique fascia and grille highlighted by the blocked-off fog lamp openings and aggressive lower splitter. It will also feature a redesigned front splitter. It will be available in Competition Orange, Performance White, Kona Blue Metallic, Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat Metallic, and Race Red. On the interior, it will get a unique Boss steering wheel covered completely in Alcantara suede and Recaro buckets designed by Ford SVT in cooperation with Recaro. The Boss 302 will also have a dark metallic instrument panel finish, gauge cluster, and door panel trim.
Now that all of the technical mumbo jumbo is out of the way, we have to say how excited we are that Ford was finally able to approve a model that was good enough to be called the Boss. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait another 40 years to experience another delectable version of the classic Mustang Boss 302.

BMW Z4 3.0si Automatic Cars

The BMW Z4 is one of the more intriguing sports cars currently available. It's known for its engaging handling and steering, thrilling inline six-cylinder engine and distinctive styling.
Although its stated horsepower ratings are equaled or surpassed by those of some less expensive machinery, the Z4 counters with a lighter curb weight and, in most cases, a more rewarding driving experience. Recent improvements have made the latest Z4 the best yet, and older models are still a very viable choice for a used sports car.

BMW now offers three different flavors of non-cars, all of them antithetical to the Bavarian brand's classical claim to fame.

The X6 is the latest addition to the range, joining the X3 and X5, and BMW is calling it a Sports Activity Coupe, creating an acronym that's oddly prescient for a vehicle that's essentially a post-bris X5.

Audi Begins Producing A4 and A6

Like many other automakers, Audi is constantly expanding its production network to include new countries. This time, the German premium carmaker has launched a new assembly plant in Indonesia in cooperation with INDOMOBIL /Garuda Mataram Motor, to produce the Audi A4 1.8 TFSI and A6 2.0 TFSI cars in the capital city Jakarta. The first A4 and A6 models were delivered to Indonesian customers earlier this month, with the German company planning to assemble around 2,700 cars per year by 2015, including 2,000 A4 models, exclusively for the Indonesian market.
Audi said the Indonesian car market is forecast to grow by 15 percent this year, with sales in the premium segment expected to double over the next five years.
“After having done so in key markets like China and India, we’ve now found an outstanding partner for local assembly of our Audi models in Indonesia: INDOMOBIL/Garuda Mataram Motor,” said Frank Dreves, Member of the Board of Management for Production at AUDI AG.
"As one of the most important countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Indonesia is one of Asia’s most dynamic growth regions. We’d like to contribute to this growth, since growth is an important component of Audi’s brand strategy,” Dreves said

Lexus es 2011

For those of us lucky enough to consider buying a just-off-the-production-line car, the UK Government’s new Scrappage Scheme means it’s time to put your foot down and think about buying that new Mercedes, that impressive Range Rover or brand spanking new Lexus.
With a mouth-watering 2000 pounds discount on your dream vehicle, this new scheme, introduced in the UK’s 2009 budget, might well bring the actual purchasing of it significantly closer. The entire fund for UK motorists eyeing up their new BMW, Mini Cooper or new Lexus is 300 million pounds, which translates to the scheme benefitting around 300,000 customers. 1000 pounds is provided by the Government, while the other helpful grand is put up by the manufacturers.
While many a potential car buyer will be gladdened by the prospect of such a deal, the real reason for its introduction is to stimulate the car manufacturing industry, as it has suffered severely from the current financial crisis. The UK car making industry supports a great many jobs and related businesses – so you can feel extra happy about settling into your new Lexus LF AR Roadster, Jaguar XF or Vauxhall Insignia, knowing that you’re helping the economy into the upturn!

Lexus es 2011

So what are the pre-requisites for qualifying for your 2 grand discount? Your old car needs to have seen better days – specifically being at least 10 years old. Simple as that – and apart from the financial benefit, you’ll be motoring away in a far cleaner, greener vehicle than you had before. This in turn will help the UK to reduce carbon emissions as outlined in such agreements as Kyoto.
The UK Chancellor, Alistair Darling, hopes the scheme will be as successful as similar schemes across Europe. The only concern he and the Government had was that primarily overseas motor makers would benefit from the proposals – such as new Lexus LF from Japan, or Volkswagen Touareg from Germany. In answer to this the treasury is only stumping up half the cash. However, Britain’s main auto manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Vauxhall will be extremely glad to see the new scheme get taken up – as UK car sales have slumped by 30 percent.
So if you were thinking of trading in your rusting hatchback due to the broken back door lock, ineffective cigarette lighter, chipped windscreen, non-power steering, now’s the time to get rid. Or perhaps you’re simply embarrassed by the filthy cloud of black smoke which billows from the tailpipe every time you start it up. If you’re suffering from one or two of these auto dilemmas, the UK Scrappage Scheme offers a way out. If you’re face is reddened by every single one of these car conundrums, then the 2000 pounds discount on offer is going to be hard to resist!
If you haven’t decided if you want a shiny Mercedes Smart car direct from Germany or a new Lexus straight from Japan – or perhaps a home grown Jaguar or Land Rover, you’ve got until the end of the tax year to make up your mind. The next 12 months are likely to be a popular time to purchase a new vehicle, so you might want to get your driving gloves on and get down to your local dealership.

2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

The all-new Charger will once again receive a slight makeover later this fall, although this time it’ll get musclecar mascara from Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) team. Not only is the new 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 more powerful than the last go-fast rendition, but according to preliminary test data, it’s more efficient, too.
The new SRT8 Charger’s improved efficiency is achieved in part by the addition of Chrysler’s adaptive valve exhaust system and Fuel Saver technology. The latter switches the all-new 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 into a four-cylinder mode that’s activated over a wider rpm range, thus minimizing consumption. By exactly how much has yet to be announced, but for a reference point, the last Challenger SRT8 powered by the 6.1-liter V-8 was rated 13/19 mpg city/highway. An active intake manifold and high-lift camshaft on the 2012 Charger SRT8 optimize low-end grunt for even more speed when you want it.

2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

Each of the SRT8′s 465 horses and 465 pound-feet of torque are routed to sticky 20-inch rear rubber through the brand’s well worn W5A580 AutoStick five-speed automatic. Yes, we know, it’s no pistol-grip six-speed manual (say, from the Challenger SRT8 392), or even a six-speed slushbox, but SRT has included a first-ever paddle shifting function to make the aging tranny more entertaining.
Even with the questionable gearbox in place, Chrysler reckons the SRT8 can sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in the high-4 second range, achieve 0.88 g on the skidpad, and top out at an estimated 175 mph. Quarter-mile times should be in the high-12 second range, Chrysler says
2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

Good thing there are four-piston Brembos to clamp down hard on 14.2-inch front/13.8-inch rear slotted rotors. The massive binders utilize Chrysler’s Ready Alert Braking system that positions pads closer to the rotors when a collision is anticipated by onboard telemetry. Each corner also gets redesigned 20-inch forged aluminum wheels that sport black accents to emphasize their mirror-like faces.
An SRT first, the adaptive damping suspension adjusts stiffness levels based on driver inputs and road conditions. When left in Auto mode, the suspension’s ECU calibrates all four corners to a softer level; toggle to Sport for a tauter road feel. Engineers installed a beefier power steering system for direct, yet livable communication.

Suzuki EcoCharge ( Concept )

Suzuki EcoCharge Concept
It's no secret that the world's automakers are rushing to make their cars more fuel-efficient, and hybrid drivetrains are one of the most proven methods to cut consumption. Suzuki's first hybrid car will be previewed at New York auto show as the EcoCharge concept, based on the company's Kizashi sedan.
The transformation to gas-sipping hybrid begins with a new 2.0-liter inline-four engine, rated for 144 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque, ousting the standard Kizashi's 185-horsepower 2.4-liter engine. To compensate for the reduction in raw output -- and to help save at the pump -- the engine is supplemented by a 15-kilowatt electric motor. It's a combination motor/generator attached to the engine via an accessory belt. A 0.5-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery stores electricity during braking, and juices the electric motor to aid acceleration.
To further improve economy, the EcoCharge has engine stop-start functionality, low-rolling-resistance tires, and the engine computer cuts the fuel flow when the car is decelerating. Suzuki aims for a 25-percent improvement over the regular Kizashi's highway fuel economy. The thriftiest current model, the front-wheel-drive Kizashi S, returns 31 mpg highway, meaning the EcoCharge could be rated as high as 38 mpg.
The powertrain is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, a choice unavailable in the standard Kizashi. In spite of the eco-friendly modifications, Suzuki claims the EcoCharge retains the sporty handling and braking we've come to love in the standard Kizashi, while the electric motor's boost is said to offer "spirited" acceleration.
The EcoCharge stands apart from its non-hybrid forebear with blue-tinged white satin paint, lightweight aluminum wheels, unique headlights, and LED foglights. The seats are constructed from undisclosed "advanced" materials, but as Suzuki claims they require 84 percent less energy than traditional seating surfaces, we'd hazard a guess that they use some sort of recycled material.
There's no word on whether the EcoCharge will make it to production, but it seems like a solid bet given the rising popularity of hybrid cars. If the hybrid does indeed retain the base car's engaging dynamics, we'd welcome a handful more miles per gallon in a Kizashi. As to the car's potential competition, Buick recently introduced a similar belt-driven hybrid system called eAssist, which boosts a four-cylinder engine's fuel economy by 25 percent. eAssist launches this fall on the Buick Regal.

Porsche Cayenne S ( Concept )

The entry level Porsche Cayenne S is more like the Cayenne Turbo that the $ 33,000 price difference would suggest. 4.5-liter V-8 puts 340 hp (110 less than the Turbo), enough to push the S 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds. The Turbo air suspension with active control is missing, but found that the conventional suspension makes the Cayenne S more alert and maneuverable.

In general, the Cayenne is actually defined by its computerized electronics (as all modern vehicles will be soon), and the S model has all the good things. The system all-wheel-drive sends 62 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels and 38 percent for the front wheels and then vary the power distribution to each wheel according to road surface and control inputs . The driving dynamics are brilliant, and that cut across all road surfaces and in all times.

But an SUV is also on the experience of using it, and everything to do with utility is clearly flawed in the Cayenne. It is as if the German engineers had seen the sport-utes only in television commercials dirt-bashing, but I had never driven one of the supermarket.
First, the Cayenne is too high for easy entry and exit, and the doors swing closed too easily to carry passengers. The rear door opens too high to be pulled closed without some NBA style jumping. The seats are too firm, the options too noisy. The instrument binnacle looks confusing and the navigation system resembles a wristwatch with functions too bad. The entertainment system is outdated. Finally, the Cayenne style runs the gamut of emotional insipid unpleasant

Porsche Panamera Turbo S 2012

2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo
Porsche says the Turbo S can hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, 0.3 second quicker than the regular Panamera Turbo, and reach a top speed of 190 mph -- a two-mph improvement over the stock Turbo.
The power upgrades resemble those provided by a Porsche-issued Turbo Powerkit, which can be fitted on the Panamera Turbo to raise output to 540 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. That kit costs $21,730.
All Panameras received minor updates last year to improve fuel economy, and Porsche predicts that even the 550-horsepower Turbo S will match the regular Panamera Turbo's EPA ratings of 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
The Panamera Turbo S comes standard with several other performance packages that are optional on other trim levels, including Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDDC), which reduces body roll when cornering; Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), which can vary the amount of torque sent to each rear wheel; Sport Chrono Package Turbo, which alters engine and suspension response; Servotronic speed-sensitive steering; and a sport exhaust system.
Not wanting it to be confused with the lesser non-S model, Porsche endowed the Turbo S with 20-inch Turbo II wheels that widen the rear track (which are an $1820 option on the standard Turbo), Porsche Exclusive side skirts, and an active rear spoiler. Exclusive color options for the Panamera S consist of a new Agate Grey Metallic exterior paint, along with new black-and-cream or gray-and-cream leather interior combinations.
The Panamera Turbo S goes on sale this spring for $174,175 including destination and delivery, a premium of $37,900 over a base Panamera Turbo.

Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

Porsche Panamera S Hybrid
For Porsche, performance is always paramount, but now it must also be “intelligent”. Apparently, hybrids = intelligence, as evidenced by Porsche’s new Panamera S Hybrid, which its debut today at the 2011 New York show and is another showcase of the German automaker’s emerging Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy.
As far as we’re concerned, with 380 horsepower, a 0-to-60 time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 167 mph, you can call it a dunce and we’ll still drive it. Fast.
Essentially the same system as found under Cayenne S Hybrid, the Panamera S Hybrid employs a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine with 333 horsepower, augmented by a 47-horsepower (34 kW) electric motor, which also doubles as the generator and starter. Porsche says it can roll for approximately one mile on battery juice alone and speeds of up to 50 mph in around town driving situations. Final EPA fuel economy ratings are yet to be announced, but expect it to be close to the Cayenne hybrid’s 20/24 city/highway mpg rating.
The Panamera S Hybrid is a higher-spec version of the conventional V-8 S model and comes with the automaker’s adaptive air suspension and PASM adaptive shock absorber system, as well as variable-assist power steering among other options. In addition, there’s a special display setup that highlights several of the hybrid system’s operations.
All of this intelligent performance stuff doesn’t come cheap. The Panamera S Hybrid’s base price is $95,000 (excluding destination) and is set to hit dealerships later this year.

Nissan Versa 2012

Nissan had previously released preview sketches of its next-generation subcompact model, but had shied away from announcing an exact venue for its introduction. Officials now tell us, however, that the new model will make its first public introduction in NYC.2012 Nissan Versa
Further details are still under strong lock and key, but we wouldn't be surprised if the new model -- which may or may not retain the Versa name -- bears a strong resemblance to a new subcompact sedan Nissan recently launched in another corner of the world. The Sunny, which was introduced at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China last month, not only appears to be the splitting image of the Versa teaser, but also rides upon Nissan's new global V-platform. First used on the latest Micra, excutives have long hinted that same architecture will be used in the next Versa.
That doesn't, however, mean the American-spec models will mirror the Chinese car spec-for-spec. Using the V-platform will, however, potentially allow Nissan to further reduce manufacturing costs tied to the new vehicle program, and subsequently allow Nissan to further drop the base price. That last point may prove important -- after all, the automaker has previously been proud of offering Versas in both fully loaded and value-priced forms.

Nissan Versa Sedan 2012

Compact sedans are all the rage, with a host of new entries from both domestic and import manufacturers reaching showrooms recently. Nissan will cash in on that popularity with the 2012 Versa sedan, debuting today at the New York auto show with refreshed styling and tweaks to improve fuel economy.
The 2012 Versa rides on an evolution of the last car's platform called V, for Versatile. The sedan's wheelbase and width are unchanged from the current model, but it loses about an inch of length and height. Despite this, Nissan says that packaging improvements for the engine and transaxle mean there is more trunk space. The new car also should be marginally lighter than before.
Styling-wise, the new Versa takes cues from the larger Altima and Maxima sedans, starting with a new grille design and oval-shaped headlights, and continued with a smoother rear and reshaped taillights that sweep from the rear bumper to the Versa's rear haunches. The hood and sides are broken up by an assortment of creased character lines akin to those seen on the Hyundai Elantra. Whereas the old Versa had a more conventional flat roof and steep rear window, the new car's roofline gently slopes toward the trunk, following the coupe-like trend. The exterior changes reportedly help achieve a low 0.31 drag coefficient.
Nissan claims the Versa's rear seats offer more legroom than a BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and says much effort was spent making the seats comfier and the interior more spacious and appealing. The new dashboard has rounded, contoured controls in place of the drab flat-plastic layout in the old car, a simpler dual-gauge instrument cluster, and a redesigned steering wheel. That said, the interior continues to showcase expanses of plain plastics and fabrics (in either Sandstone or Charcoal color schemes) that don't look particularly upscale.
