Porsche Carrera GT

Porsche Carrera GT

Well, Porsche is into
the hybrid game! The
new (hybrid) 918 Spyder
is reported to be faster
than a Carrera GT but
it returns about 70 mpg
on the highway.

Next up (hybrid speaking)
for the automaker is the
Cayenne S Hybrid.

The 2011 Cayenne
SUV has undergone its

first major redesign. The wheelbase will increase by 1.6 inches, however, it
will drop about 400 pounds.

The most important news is that it is the arrival of the first-ever Cayenne
Hybrid model. Total engine/electric output will be 380 hp and 427 lb. ft.
of torque. It will have a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine putting out 328
hp combined with a three-phase synchronous electric motor providing an
additional 52 hp.

Performance wise, the hybrid will be in between the base V6 Cayenne
and theV8 powered Cayenne S. The hybrid has the same eight-speed
Tiptronic transmission that shifts the gasoline models.

This hybrid Porsche will feature an auto start/stop function at
stoplights. Additionally, it will have regenerative braking to help
recharge the lithium-ion batteries. The Cayenne Hybrid will be able
to run short distances on all electric power even cruising up to 97 mph
on the highway without using the gas engine. This hybrid SUV crossover
will achieve 28 mpg on the highway.

For the driver who has disposable income, wants Porsche status,
Good performance and reasonable fuel economy, The Porsche
Cayenne S Hybrid has it covered.
